My favorite vacation was when my family went to Yellowstone National Park. It took two days to drive up to Wyoming. Then, we arrived at our campsite, and all the fun began. It was the middle of June, our picnic table and fire pit were snowed in. We used my uncle's camper, set up a tent, and we were ready for the week of camping.
We saw many wildlife. Some of these animals include: grizzley bears, black bears, elk, deer, chipmunks, moose, fish, and pelicans. On the last day we stayed at our campsite, there was a deer that ran through the middle of our campsite as we were packing up for home.
During this week, we also did a lot of sight seeing. We visited the Forty-Fifth Parallel of Latitude Halfway Between Equator and North Pole. My family and I also spent a day at the Hot Springs in Yellowstone. This was fun to see, but the smell was not too pleasant. We also saw a mud geyser, this was a neat to see. One of the most memorable trails that we went hiking on was Uncle Tom's Trail. This trail consisted of many steps, but an incredible view at the bottom. The climb down was fun, but back up not so much. Megan, my sister, and I had to start climbing the steep steps on our hands and knees, which i guess you could say was fun. Another memorable hike we went on was to reach Cub Lake. This was a very nice trail, with a lot of trees. When we reached the lake, it was beautiful, there were alot of lily pads all over the water. On the hike back to the car, we hit the afternoon rainshowers on the mountain. We got back to the car, sloshing through mud, and soaking wet!
Since we were in Yellowstone, we definately went to see many of the geysers. Including Old Faithful Geyser, the oldest geyser in the park. This was a very neat geyser to see erupt. We also went to see Castle Geyser and Riverside Geyser. My favorite geyser of all was Grand Geyser. There was a large ammount of water and steam that shot up from this one, it rarely erupts and we happened to be there when it did. We waited an hour and a half for this geyser to erupt. We did alot of reading, sleeping, and watching other geysers erupt that we could see from Grand Geyser during that time. Megan also got very bored, and decided to do my hair.
This has been my favorite and most memorable vacation I have ever taken with my family. I hope to go back to Yellowstone sometime in the future.
